আমরা কি ৯০% শিখব; না ২০%?
Lecture শুনে আমরা ২০% শিখি। ‘Lecture শুনে শেখা’ হলো passive learning.
কাজের মধ্যে নিজেকে যুক্ত করে, অর্থাৎ practice করে আমরা ৯০% শিখি। ‘Practice করে শেখা’ হলো active learning.

আমাদের আছে Vocab Grammar-এর লেখক মনিরুজ্জামান সোহেলের প্রস্তুতকৃত বিশেষ practice materials, যার কারণে আমরা ১০০% active learning নিশ্চিত করতে পারি; flexible class timing দিতে পারি; এবং lecture-based class থেকে সম্পূর্ণ ভিন্ন।
নিচে lecture-based class ও আমাদের practice-based class-এর মধ্যে ১০ টি পার্থক্য দেওয়া হলঃ

Lecture-based class হলো passive learning; আমরা মাত্র ২০% শিখি।
আমাদের বিশেষ practice materials ১০০% active learning নিশ্চিত করে; student ৯০% শিখতে পারবে।

গবেষণা বলে lecture-এর মাধ্যমে student-দের মনোযোগ ১০–১৫ মিনিট ধরে রাখা সম্ভব। ফলে student-দের মনোযোগ ধরে রাখার চেষ্টা বা technique হিসাবে শিক্ষক অনেক সময় অপ্রাসঙ্গিক ও কৌতুকপূর্ণ গল্প বলেন বা পরিস্থিতি সৃষ্টি করেন যা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সময়ের অপচয়।
Active learning পুরো সময় জুড়ে মনোযোগ ধরে রাখে; আমাদের বিশেষ practice materials-এর মূল লক্ষ্য হলো class materials-কে সহজ ও interesting করে student-কে class materials-এর মধ্যে ডুবিয়ে দেওয়া; আর সমস্যা বের করে তার সমাধান করে দেওয়া। এখানে এক মিনিট সময়ও অপচয় হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা নাই।

Lecture-based class-এ class materials হিসাবে সরাসরি বই পড়ান হয় এবং অনেক word-এর অর্থ না জানার কারণে student অনেক কিছু skip করে।
আমাদের বিশেষ practice materials বইয়ের চেয়ে অনেক বেশি কিছু; এগুলো পরিকল্পিত, সহজ, একটা আরেকটার সাথে সম্পর্কযুক্ত ও অল্প সময়ে প্রচুর practice করা যায়। এগুলো self-contained, অর্থাৎ স্বয়ংসম্পূর্ণ; এর মধ্যে student সব পাবে। (উপরের course plan-টিতে দেখুন প্রায় প্রত্যেকটা ক্লাসের সাথে ‘Follow-up Work’ ও ‘Vocabulary Practice’ আছে।)

Lecture-based class-এ একটি নির্দিষ্ট দিন ও সময়ে একটি নির্দিষ্ট class করতে হয়; চাইলেও একদিনে একাধিক class করা যায় না, অথবা একটু বেশি সময় নিয়ে একটি class শেষ করা সম্ভব না; ক্লাসের অন্য student-দের সাথে তাল মিলিয়ে চলতে হবে ও শিখতে হবে এবং ক্লাস miss করার সম্ভাবনা থাকে।
আমাদের practice-based class-এ one-to-one class ও flexible class timing হওয়াতে যেকোনো দিন ও সময়ে class করা যাবে; চাইলে একাধিক ক্লাসও করা যাবে; student-এর চাহিদা ও সামর্থ্য অনুযায়ী class duration ঠিক করা যাবে; slow learner হলে আস্তে চলবে; fast learner হলে দ্রুত চলবে; class miss করার কোনো সম্ভাবনা নাই। (One-to-one class ও flexible class timing দেখলে বুঝতে পারবেন।)

Lecture-based class-এ নিজেকে যাচাই করার সুযোগ খুব কম এবং পর্যাপ্ত practice না করার কারণে test ভীতি থেকেই যায়। আলাদা করে mock বা model test দিতে হয়।
আমাদের practice-based class-এ শুরু থেকেই প্রতি class-এ standard score দেওয়া হয়; student বুঝতে পারবে তার উন্নতি হচ্ছে কি না; কোনো রকম test ভীতি থাকবে না। আলাদা করে mock বা model test দিতে হয় না। (প্রত্যেকটা ক্লাসের সাথে দেখুন ‘Follow-up Work’ আছে।)

Lecture-based class-এ কোনো individual feedback নাই।
আমাদের practice-based class-এ সবকিছু one-to-one এবং student-কে প্রতি class-এ individual feedback দেওয়া হয়।

Lecture-based class-এ homework থাকতেও পারে, নাও পারে; থাকলেও organized না।
আমাদের এখানে প্রতি class-এ সুনির্দিষ্ট homework থাকবে। (Course plan দেখুন।)

Lecture-based class-এ একটা নিদিষ্ট সময়ে batch বা course শুরু বা শেষ হয়; student-এর কোনো স্বাধীনতা নাই।
আমাদের practice-based class-এ যখন খুশি একটি course শুরু বা শেষ করা যাবে। যেকোনো course-এর admission validity এক বছর; অর্থাৎ ২০ দিন থেকে এক বছরের মধ্যে যেকোনো সময়ে শেষ করা যাবে। Student নিজে কতটুকু সময় দিচ্ছে – ওটাই সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। (One-to-one class ও flexible class timing দেখলে ধারণা পাবেন।)

Lecture-based class-এ পর্যাপ্ত লেখার ও feedback পাওয়ার সুযোগ নাই। নিজে লেখা ও one-to-one feedback পাওয়া ছাড়া writing-এ কোনো উন্নতি হবে না।
আমাদের practice-based class-এ student-এর লেখা check করে one-to-one feedback দেওয়া হয় এবং ঐ topic-এর উপর highest score পাওয়া লেখা দেওয়া হয় যাতে student নিজের লেখা তুলনা করতে পারে ও সবচেয়ে ভালোটি থেকে শিখতে পারে।

যদিও প্রচুর vocabulary শেখা ছাড়া student-এর উন্নতি হবার সম্ভাবনা নাই, lecture-based class-এ vocabulary practice-এর সুযোগ একেবারেই কম।
আমাদের এখানে প্রতি class-এ vocabulary থাকছে homework হিসাবে; আর পরের class-এ test নেওয়া হচ্ছে; আমাদের যেকোনো একটি course করলে প্রায় ৪,০০০ (চার হাজার) vocabulary শেখা যাবে; আর student প্রচুর vocabulary শিখছে মানে তার ভবিষ্যৎ শিক্ষা বা কর্মজীবনকেও সহজ করছে। (Course plan দেখুন।)

One-To-One Class – কোনো student-কেই batch-এর জন্য অপেক্ষা করতে হয় না; মাসের যেকোনো সময় ভর্তি হয়ে ক্লাস শুরু করা যাবে।
Flexible Class Timing: 11:30 am to 8:30 pm; Friday closed – এই সময়কালের মধ্যে যেকোনো দিন বা সময়ে ক্লাস করা যাবে।
কীভাবে?
আমাদের ক্লাসগুলো practice-based এবং class materials বিশেষ কিছু; online ও offline ক্লাসের মান একই।
Online Class:
Admission নেওয়ার পর student আমাদের বিশেষ class materials সংগ্রহ করে।
Student-কে আমাদের Messenger-এ connect করা হয়।
Student 11:30 am থেকে 8:30 pm-এর মধ্যে যেকোনো সময় Messenger-এ জিজ্ঞেস করে “Can I connect now?”.
Teacher Google Meet link send করে। একবারে একজন student-ই connected থাকে।
Student-এর হাতে থাকা worksheets-এর soft copy computer screen-এ এনে তাকে instructions দেওয়া হয়।
Student তার সুবিধামত সময়ে classwork ও homework শেষ করে ছবি তুলে Messenger-এ submit করে।
Teacher ঐ ছবিগুলো download করে check করে এবং student-কে Messenger-এ notification পাঠায় feedback নেওয়ার জন্য।
Student 11:30 am থেকে 8:30 pm-এর মধ্যে যেকোনো সময় Messenger-এ জিজ্ঞেস করে “Can I connect now?”.
Connected হওয়ার পর student-কে আগের ক্লাসের feedback ও next class-এর instructions দেওয়া হয়।
সবশেষে student-এর Messenger-এ আগের ক্লাসের checked papers send করা হয়।
Feedback session-টিতে কত সময় লাগবে তা depend করে student-এর performance-এর উপর। তবে সাধারণত ২ থেকে ৫ মিনিট লাগে।
Offline Class:
Student 11:30 am থেকে 8:30 pm-এর মধ্যে যেকোনো সময় ক্লাসরুমে আসে। তাকে আমাদের বিশেষ worksheets বুঝিয়ে দেওয়া হয়।
Student worksheets শেষ করে teacher-এর কাছে submit করে এবং homework বুঝে নিয়ে ক্লাসরুম ত্যাগ করে।
Student-এর submit করা worksheets check করা হয়।
Student homework শেষ করে এবং 11:30 am থেকে 8:30 pm-এর মধ্যে যেকোনো দিন ও সময়ে ক্লাসরুমে আসে।
Teacher তাকে আগের ক্লাসের feedback এবং পরবর্তী ক্লাসের instructions দেয়। সব কিছুই হয় one-to-one.
Online বা offline যেভাবেই হোক না কেন ক্লাসের মান একই থাকবে; তবে online ক্লাসে অবিশ্বাস্য flexibility পাওয়া যাবে এবং প্রচুর সময় বাঁচানো যাবে।
